Day 17 - Time to Run an Ad
Day 17: Created my first Facebook ad for garage cleaning service. $695, one day, done. My sister's frozen car proved the problem is real. Launching tomorrow!
Hey everyone,
This is the week I promised to take some forward action, even if it turns out not to work. Today, I created an ad for Facebook.
Hopefully, tomorrow I'll get closer to getting the ad running (if I can even figure it out).
The Ad Creative (Edit 1)
This is what people will see and be able to click on if they are interested. It has to be good or else no one will click.
As we were leaving for school, my sister told me to clean out the garage so she could park inside. Her car windows were all froze up. She didn't know about my plan, so this just reinforced everything AND gave me an idea.
Here is what I created using Canva.

What do you think?
The Ad Copy
This is what people will see if they click on the link. I used claude.ai to help me write this one.
Tired of parking outside because your garage is full?
We'll clean it out in one day.
Here's how it works:
You book us
We show up
We sort, clean, and organize everything
We sell valuable items
We donate the rest
You park inside
No hidden fees. No upsells. Just a clean garage.
$695. One day. Done.

What Happens If They Click The Link
When someone clicks the link, I'm going to have them fill out a form. I'll try tomorrow to see how to make this work. The problem is that I can't take calls during the day and I have basketball practice after that. Plus, we have 3 games this week.
Here is what I came up with using Claude again:
Name: ___________
Phone: ___________
Email: ___________
Home Address: ___________
How full is your garage?
○ Can't walk through it
○ Pretty full but manageable
○ Some stuff but organized
What's preventing you from cleaning it yourself?
○ Too much stuff
○ Don't have time
○ Don't know what to do with items
○ Physically can't do it
When would you like this done?
○ This week
○ Next week
○ This month
○ Just exploring options
Best time to call you?
○ Morning (8am-12pm)
○ Afternoon (12pm-5pm)
○ Evening (5pm-8pm)
My Goal Tomorrow
Tomorrow, I'm going to continue to work on the ad to make it more look more like my brand and I'm going to see how to get this form working.
I'll probably start thinking about what happens if we get a fish on the hook (someone interested). I'll need to hire some help.
My Schedule
School, basketball, homework, and this business are taking all my time.
My typical day:
- 7:30am-3:00pm: School
- 3:30pm-6:00pm: Basketball practice
- 6:00pm-8:00pm: Homework, dinner, family time
- 8:00pm-9:00pm: Work on Flip-n-Ricky
This week I also have:
- 3 basketball games
- A math test
- A history project due
So if someone wants their garage cleaned "this week"... I don't know how I'd do it unless I hire someone to help. We'll have to think about it.
Teacher's Notes
The Doing vs. Thinking Shift
This is what I wanted to see.
- Week 2: Ricky thought about what to do
- Week 3: Ricky is DOING something
The difference is everything.
Small steps forward create momentum. Today, Ricky took a few great steps:
- ✅ Created ad image in Canva
- ✅ Wrote ad copy
- ✅ Designed intake form
- ✅ Planned next steps
Most people spend months "getting ready to launch." Ricky's launching in 2 days. That's entrepreneurship.
The Numbers - Day 17
Money Spent: $65.17
Money In: $4,000
Subscribers: 21 🥳
Potential Sponsor: 1 (need to reach back out, ugh. Forgot today)
How I'm feeling: 9.0/10
(we have a plan)
See ya tomorrow! Gonna be a great week.
Ricky
