Day 2 – Planning Week 1

Day 2 of building a million-dollar business: I need to sell Grandpa's boat on Facebook Marketplace, but I don't have an account. Here's my week 1 action plan.

Day 2 – Planning Week 1

The plan to sell Grandpa's boat

This week's plan...

This whole business was created to do one thing; help my grandpa sell his boat. He doesn't need to sell it, but he doesn't use it anymore and never really has. The boat just sits in the garage and he cleans it and piddles around it, but never uses it.

So, step one is to sell his boat.

If I can make more than he want's when I sell it, he's allowing me to keep the profit.

Flip-n-Ricky was created to use the profit from the boat to make more profit and it I can do that well, then my goal is to make my grandpa a millionaire in one year.

Sounds really impossible, but my Teacher says I need a goal so I think bigger and focus.

My teacher also said this mission needed a name, which is why we named it Flip-n-Ricky.

One way to sell the boat is through Facebook marketplace. But, there's one problem.

I don't have a Facebook account.

So, step one is to find someone who can let me use their Facebook account, until I can figure out another way.

My plan for this week:

  • Get all the boat's details (I think I have most already from my grandpa).
  • Take pictures of the boat
  • Find someone who will post the boat for me.
  • Pick a starting price. We have to at least pay grandpa back (anything more is my profit)
  • Sell the boat THIS WEEK.
  • Pick the next product for my inventory

Teacher's Notes:

You set out with a great Purpose, but now you need the second part of the equation... The People. Winning in business is always about the WHO. Who we surround ourselves with makes all the difference.

Setting a weekly goal is great. We only have 52 weeks to reach out goal so being specific and working backwards is critical (some would call this reverse engineering the steps).

Just remember the old saying, "we make plans and God laughs". Be ready to change, adjust, and continuously learn from your customers.

Your business building winning formula will be Purpose + People + Process

Continue to set aside time each day to document this journey.

Remember, most founders are very OPTIMISTIC people so goal setting turns into a game of missed deadlines, frustration, and disappointment. Stay strong young fella.
