Day 20 - How Far We've Come

Day 20: Twenty days in. 22 subscribers from 6 countries. No million yet, but learned more than expected. Reflection on the real wins of building in public.

Day 20 - How Far We've Come
Day 20: We've come a long way

Hey friends,

Twenty days ago, I sold my Grandpa's boat and thought flipping products would be easy.

It's not.

But here's what's happened since then:

The Numbers:

  • Started with: $4,000 and an idea
  • Subscribers: 0 → 22 (I'm proud of this growth!)
  • Countries reading: 6 (USA, Ukraine, France, Philippines, Hong Kong, Portugal)
  • Products flipped: 1 (just the boat)
  • Facebook ads run: 0 (but close!)
  • Days missed: 1
  • Lessons learned: Too many to count

What I Thought Would Happen:

  • Day 1: Sell boat ✅
  • Day 7: Flip 5 more products
  • Day 14: Have a system going
  • Day 20: Be well on my way to $1 million

What Actually Happened:

  • Day 5: Sold boat ✅
  • Day 7: Still looking for products
  • Day 14: Pivoted to garage cleaning service
  • Day 20: Still haven't launched the ad

But Here's What I've Really Built:

Not a million-dollar business (yet). But something else:

Skills:

  • Website design (built flipnricky.com)
  • SEO and blogging (20 posts written)
  • Facebook ad creation (almost done!)
  • Video editing (learning now)
  • Email marketing (22 people subscribed)
  • Time management (still working on this one)
  • I'm writing more and starting to enjoy it once I can commit time to it.

Community:

  • 22 people following along
  • Brand Ambassadors helping
  • Readers from 6 countries
  • Someone from Hong Kong saying 你好!
  • A potential sponsor interested

Self-awareness:

  • I can't do everything at once
  • Asking for help is smart, not weak
  • School comes first (even if it slows business)
  • Slow progress > no progress
  • Consistency beats intensity

The Real Win:

Twenty days ago, I had never:

  • Built a website
  • Written a blog
  • Created an ad
  • Asked strangers for help
  • Built anything in public

Now I've done all of that.

What's Next:

Tomorrow I'm making the video for the Facebook ad.
Then we launch.

Will anyone respond?
I don't know.

Will I learn something either way?
Definitely.

To the 22 of You:

Thank you for sticking with me through the slow days, the pivots, the frustrations, and the small wins.

You could be reading anything.
You're choosing to read this.

That means something and it's special to me.

Let's see what Week 4 brings.

The Numbers - Day 20

Money Spent: $65.17
Money In: $4,000

How I'm feeling: 7.5/10
