Day 24 - The Ad is LIVE

Day 24: The Facebook ad is finally LIVE! Cleaned my garage as a test, created image and video ads, launched with $10/day budget. One click so far. Let's see what happens!

Day 24 - The Ad is LIVE
Day 24 - The ad is live

Hey everyone. I missed a few days in a row. My teacher suggested that I don't put too much pressure on myself if I miss a day. I've got school, basketball, soccer, and homework. But, he suggested to focus on one small step each day so I can keep learning.

After meeting the other "Ricky" who does garage clean outs, I decided to try this as a business model. He charges $699 and he had several customers his first month.

So, this weekend, I cleaned out my garage as a test. My parents were happy with the work and it was fun, but I'll never be able to actually do the work. My teacher says we'll work on hiring people to help if we get anyone interested.

What I Learned From the Test

Cleaning my own garage took about 4 hours. Here's what I discovered:

  • It's harder than it looks
  • Sorting stuff takes the longest
  • You need boxes, bags, and a truck for donations
  • My parents had WAY more stuff than I expected

Could I do this for strangers?
Maybe one garage on a Saturday.

But if we actually get customers?
I'll definitely need help.

Flip-n-Ricky Ad's

I made an image and a video to test out the idea.

Our video ad

After I made these, I created a questionnaire for anyone who clicks the ad.

We then launched the ad using a budget of $10 per day. I figure we'll test for a week and see what happens.

So far, one person has clicked the ad, haha.

What Happens Next

If someone fills out the questionnaire, here's the plan:

  1. My Teacher or I call them back (evenings work best for me)
  2. We explain the service and that I'm a teen entrepreneur
  3. If they're interested, we schedule a weekend appointment
  4. I hire help to do the heavy lifting
  5. We clean the garage, sell/donate items, and get paid

Will anyone actually hire a 13-year-old for this?

I don't know. But we're about to find out.

Teacher's Notes

Ricky is a real boy, but we'll see if people trust the boy avatar that Ricky is using. If someone inquires, then we'll be very open about how Ricky is a 13 year old entrepreneur building his first business.

We'll need to figure out who will actually do the work, too.

The real lesson here is to learn how to "Attract" your ideal client once you have an offer to test.

The other lesson is to test and learn on a very small scale ($10/day). We'll see what Ricky learns in this first week of testing his $695 offer.
